A good example of how greenSand Semi-hardening can be applied in a modern design can be found in the inner gardens of Gonnetstraat 22 and 24 in Haarlem. The design for the gardens is by Hosper Landscape Architects.
On the north side of the centre of Haarlem, two new residential towers have recently been built. The design is made to fit in with the industrial character of the nearby monumental HAL building, which previously housed Haarlem's allergen laboratory.
The garden paths with greenSand Semi-hardening remove CO₂. This CO₂ removal occurs because the rock, which contains the mineral olivine, reacts with CO₂ and water. It fixes the CO₂ in a bicarbonate, which is a nutrient for plants. Do you want to know more about this?
