Park Vogelenzang in Spijkenisse
The Boot Path
A good example of how a project with greenSand Olivine came about is the former "boot path" in Vogelenzang park in Spijkenisse. The path, where you previously trudged through the mud in your boots, was recently hardened to give more people access to it. One side of the path had already been hardened with shells. For the other side, greenSand Olivine was chosen. This was because the supervisor on duty had read about us and thought it would be a nice idea to apply it.
Braber groenvoorziening was engaged to construct the path. They applied a sub-layer with geotextile, over which a layer of approximately 7 cm of greenSand Olivine was applied. This covered a length of 700 meters. In total, 104 tons of greenSand decorative gravel with a 2-6 gradation was used for this.
The more the path is walked on, the faster the reaction occurs, causing the Olivine to remove CO2. So if you live nearby and walk in the park, you know you're doing good: for yourself and for the atmosphere.
