Good news from Brussels
New procurement rules
The European Union has approved a plan for new procurement rules. From now on, public authorities will be able to set quality requirements in addition to price.
What do these plans mean in concrete terms?
-
Quality carries more weight: The 'best value for money' will become the standard, with quality criteria such as the environment, social impact and innovation having to count for at least 30% to 50%. Bidding solely on price is no longer enough.
-
Simpler and faster procurement: Reduced administrative burdens and streamlined procedures make it easier to select sustainable market leaders and innovative partners.
-
Room for innovative solutions: There will be more flexibility to work together on environmentally friendly solutions that directly contribute to the local living environment.
Climate objectives
At greenSand, we welcome these plans! They offer municipalities and public procurers the opportunity to place social added value at the heart of all their projects. Climate objectives can thus carry more weight.
By using greenSand Olive, municipalities can put these new guidelines into practice immediately. Our products ensure permanent CO₂ removal and offer various practical applications in public spaces, for example as semi-permeable paving on a walking or cycling path or as sweeping sand for jointed paving.
