Alkmaar takes new steps to remove CO2 from the air

The municipality of Alkmaar is taking the lead as a leader in greening the living environment, with a thorough approach to projects aimed at increasing biodiversity and climate resilience.

Following the success of the greenSand path in the Vroonermeer nature reserve, Stadswerk072, the public space manager, has decided to use this CO₂-absorbing rock more widely in future greening projects.

We are proud to announce the construction of two new paths, constructed with greenSand Semi-Hardsurfacing.

Expansion after proven success

The path that meanders across the recreational islands of Vroonermeer proves its added value as an ecologically responsible, low-maintenance, and aesthetically pleasing solution that blends perfectly with the surroundings. Expanding it with two additional paths is therefore a logical next step.

These new paths, located on the edge of the Boekelermeer industrial estate, also function as active CO₂ absorbers. Every step contributes directly to the climate. They're ideal for a lunchtime stroll, which benefits both your health and the climate, without you having to constantly be aware of it: the process is automatic.
