CO₂-removing

Recreational islands

During the construction of the paths on the recreational islands near the new Vroonermeer Noord district, Stadswerk was looking for sustainable applications. They found these at greenSand, which markets a semi-paved surface with the unique property of capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere and converting it into nourishing substances such as lime.

The paths are now officially open and signs have been placed showing how CO₂ removal works with greenSand Olivine.

More projects

The municipality of Alkmaar wants to construct more CO₂ capturing paths. With this, they endorse the idea behind greenSand: where possible, use sand and stones of olivine-rich rock, and together we will remove CO₂ and ensure a sustainable future.
