CO2-cleaning jeu-de-boules in Amsterdam
Recently, two jeu-de-boules courts have been added where you can throw a ball and at the same time help to clean up CO₂ . The courts are made with olivine-rich stones from greenSand. Olivine captures CO₂ in a process called rock weathering. This process works best when stones are moving, so we hope that they will be played on a lot.
The Tolhuistuin and the We Are Warming Up Festival
The jeu-de-boules courts, also known as pétanque courts, are located on the Tolhuistuin grounds and were part of the "We Are Warming Up" festival that was held in early November. During this annual festival, artists, activists, scientists, musicians and storytellers come together for a multi-day program around the climate.
Missed the program?
You can still visit the pop-up Climate Museum at the Tolhuistuin until 31 December 2024. Here you can discover stimulating works of art and interactive installations that bring the latest climate research from the UvA to life.
This course is constructed with greenSand semi-hard surface.
