Agricultural project - Now also starting in Graft- de Rijp
greenSand Olivine
Instead of lime and magnesium
Gerben's farm has a magnesium deficiency. That's why he was advised to spread a mixture of lime and magnesium. Marjon thought: "But then you can also spread greenSand Olivijn Steenmeel", in this case the pH value does not have to go up, but it is purely about increasing the magnesium. That's how the farm in Graft-De Rijp in North Holland came up with the idea to participate in our agricultural project.
Spreading with a lime spreader
Will it work?
Saturday morning is a busy time on the farm. Because Graft-De Rij is close to the greenSand office, Eddy, Irene and of course Marjon are present at the spreading of the CO2-removing Olivijn rock flour
With a large crane, the big bags of greenSand stone flour are hoisted into a hired lime spreader. It is exciting whether the spreading will succeed, because the big bags have been outside for a while and the olivine-rich stone flour is quite wet.
Beneficial for defense
Difficult to sprinkle
Spreading is quite difficult at first. Marjon, who grew up on the farm, jumped in to help. She discovered that a big bag per load works better and that spreading becomes easier. A total of 5 big bags are spread. Incidentally, there is an advantage in wet conditions: the weathering process has already started.
